DR Congo 1–1 Portugal
DR Congo came to Houston with a quarter of the ball and left with a point they thoroughly deserved. Yoane Wissa's first-half strike, set up by Arthur Masuaku, cancelled out Joao Neves' early opener — and the expected-goals line, 0.82 to 0.69 in their favour, confirms this was no backs-to-the-wall raid. Against the fourth-most-valuable squad in the tournament, on a fraction of the possession, they were the sharper team where it counted. A draw with Portugal, taken on the front foot. They will not apologise for a minute of it.

DR Congo 0–1 Colombia
For seventy-six minutes DR Congo made a more fancied Colombia look ordinary. Pinned to thirty-six percent of the ball and outshot twenty to eight, they defended their box with a discipline the expected-goals gap of 0.39 to 1.03 only half captures. Then Daniel Munoz found space at the back post from Juan Quintero's pass, and the wall they had held all night came down in a single moment. There is no shame in a one-nil defeat to the better side, resisted this long. Ranked thirty-second of forty-eight here, for an hour and a quarter they were nobody's certainty.

DR Congo 3–1 Uzbekistan
DR Congo fell behind, had a goal chalked off, and then simply took over. Eldor Shomurodov's tenth-minute opener for Uzbekistan briefly silenced them, and Noah Mbuku's leveller was disallowed for a foul soon after — but an expected-goals line of 2.35 to 0.27 tells you which way this was always going to flow. Yoane Wissa equalised from the spot, Fiston Mayele turned it around, and Wissa added his second deep in stoppage to seal a three-one win. From an awkward start to a comfortable finish, this was control rewarded in the end.

DR Congo 1–2 England
DR Congo came within a quarter of an hour of the tournament's biggest upset. Ranked dead last of the thirty-two, they silenced Atlanta through Brian Cipenga's seventh-minute strike and defended for their lives, even watching a Harry Kane penalty chalked off. But class told late: Kane struck twice in eleven minutes and the dream was gone. Their 0.8 expected goals to England's 2.04 says they rode their luck — yet they gave the second seed the fright of their tournament. Out, with heads high.

Friendship blends realized national co-starts with a club-chemistry bonus, so a settled XI and a club-spine squad both score high. Near 100 the total eases so the most-settled squads stay separated rather than all tying out. Gold lines trace the spine: teammates who share a club right now.
